Summer Time Recreation: When the weather starts getting warm in the Spokane area, residents have no shortage of options for outdoor recreational activities to enjoy it! One of the most popular destinations in the entire Pacific Northwest during the summer time is Silverwood Theme Park in Athol, Idaho. Located just under an hour from downtown Spokane, this is sure to be a hit with the whole family in the summer time! Apart from places like that, the Spokane region is sprawling with rivers, lakes, parks, and trails to explore.
Winter Time Recreation: There are five ski resorts located within an hour and a half of the downtown Spokane area. Being located so close to the border of Idaho, Spokane area residents get the benefit of easily enjoying outdoor recreation in both states. The ski resorts located nearby are 49 Degrees North and Mt. Spokane on the Washington side and Silver Mountain, Lookout Pass, and Schweitzer on the Idaho side. In addition to these resorts, the Spokane region is the perfect place for the year round outdoor enthusiast who enjoys camping and hunting.
City Life: Although outdoor recreation isn’t often thought of as being close to cities, the geography of the Spokane area is unique in this way.
